Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use Island Dispatch. This site is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What you can do on this site
- Use it entirely with a keyboard, with a clear outline showing where you are.
- Skip straight to the main content using the first link on every page.
- Use a screen reader: pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels, and every meaningful image has a text description.
- Zoom text up to 400% without content disappearing.
- Use your device's dark mode, and turn off animation using your device's “reduce motion” setting.
All text colours meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against their background, and buttons, form fields and focus outlines meet at least 3 to 1.
Known issues
YouTube videos are provided by YouTube once you press play; the accessibility of the video player itself is controlled by Google. Where a video is essential to a story, we describe its key points in the text.
We haven't yet tested every page with a screen reader, so there may be problems we don't know about. If anything is hard to use, please tell us.
Tell us about a problem
If you find something hard to use, email jakemcevoyyt@gmail.com and tell us the page and what went wrong. We'll reply within 5 working days.
This statement was prepared on . Keyboard use, colour contrast, page structure, form errors and layout on phones and computers (in light and dark mode) were checked during development on . A full screen reader test is still to be done.
