In short

  • A pirate-themed anime mini season is expected to start on 1 November, when Chapter 7 Season 4 ends.
  • A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert have both teased it, and a giant pirate chest on the island is playing their music.
  • One Piece is not confirmed. Data-mined clues point that way, but official posters show Fortnite's own characters instead.

Fortnite looks set to go full pirate next month. A new anime-style mini season is expected to launch on 1 November, according to Games.gg. Fans are asking the big question: is One Piece behind it?

Here's everything that has been shown, what has leaked, and how likely a One Piece crossover really is.

What has Epic shown so far?

The clearest clues come from two music teasers.

A$AP Rocky shared an eight-second teaser on 21 October, which Beebom covered in detail. It shows an anime-style assassin skin with a katana, a pirate theme, and a familiar landmark: the Yacht, last seen back in Chapter 2.

Lil Uzi Vert followed with his own teaser on 22 October, also reported by Beebom. It shows the same pirate chest design and Uzi drawn in an anime style.

Where is the giant pirate chest?

The chest sits on the islands east of Sunken Shores, and you can spot it from the Battle Bus. It's chained shut, and it slowly "loads in" as the days go by.

According to leaked files reported by Nintendo Life, the chest plays a different song each day. It started with A$AP Rocky's "RIOT (Rowdy Pipe'n)", followed by Lil Uzi Vert's "What You Saying".

Is One Piece really coming to Fortnite?

Maybe, but nothing is confirmed. The evidence points both ways.

The case for One Piece:

  • Data miners found a loading screen in the 15 October update showing Jonesy sitting on a barrel, falling through a crack in reality alongside Hope, as Games.gg reported.
  • Some fans read the barrel as a nod to Luffy, who first appears in One Piece washing ashore in a barrel.

The case against:

  • Posters spotted in Madrid on 20 October show two original anime characters with the slogans "Have you seen the treasure?" and "Join the hunt". There's no Luffy, Zoro or any other One Piece character, Games.gg noted.
  • Leaked Battle Pass skins are reported to be anime versions of Fortnite's own characters, including Jonesy, Hope, Syd, Evie and Oscar, according to VICE.

Our take: a pirate treasure hunt with an anime look is very likely. A One Piece crossover is possible, but right now it's a theory. Epic sometimes reveals big collaborations separately, so it isn't ruled out.

What we don't know yet

  • Whether One Piece is involved at all.
  • What the "crack in reality" means for the map.
  • When the A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert skins arrive, and what they'll cost.
