In short
- Confirmed: Treasure Hours are on Sunday 8 November, with boosted Fortune Sprite variants.
- Then Mastery Monday on 9 November, from 9am ET (6am PT, 2pm UK), with 2x Sprite XP and 2x Sprite Dust.
- A new Captain arrives on Saturday 7 November, before both.
- Not mentioned: the Pirate Shop token. Epic hasn't said Treasure Hours boost it.
Fortnite has announced its first Treasure Hours of the Treasure Hunters season. Epic says players can "tune in for boosted Fortune Sprite variants during Treasure Hours on Sunday", then use Mastery Monday to start the new week. But the announcement says nothing about the Pirate Shop token, which is what most players were hoping for.
What did Epic announce?
Here's Epic's announcement in full:
"A new Captain sails into Treasure Hunters on Saturday! Tune in for boosted Fortune Sprite variants during Treasure Hours on Sunday, then take advantage of Mastery Monday to kick off the new week in style."
That gives us three days in a row:
| Day | What happens |
|---|---|
| Saturday 7 November | A new Captain arrives |
| Sunday 8 November | Treasure Hours, with boosted Fortune Sprite variants |
| Monday 9 November | Mastery Monday, 2x Sprite XP and 2x Sprite Dust from 9am ET |
Who is the new Captain on Saturday?
Lil Uzi Vert is next. Epic's Treasure Hunters post lists the captains in order: the Straw Hats and A$AP Rocky first, then Lil Uzi Vert, then Cap'n Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto. Epic's community post puts Lil Uzi's arrival on 7 November.
Each Captain brings their own crew and location to the island.
What are Treasure Hours in Fortnite?
Treasure Hours are Sunday events that run all season. Epic's season post says Treasure Hours Sundays and Mastery Mondays add Captain's weapons to the start of every match, boosted drops and more.
This Sunday's boost is Fortune Sprite variants. A Fortune Sprite keeps its normal ability and reveals nearby chests, according to Epic. So you'll find more of them on Sunday, and they'll help you spot chests.
What time are Treasure Hours?
Epic hasn't given a time yet. Beebom guesses 2pm to 4pm ET and 9pm to 11pm ET, based on last season's Power Hours, but calls those "tentative". We'll update this story when Epic confirms the times.
Do Treasure Hours boost the Pirate token?
Epic hasn't said so. This announcement only mentions Fortune Sprites, and it doesn't mention the Pirate Shop token at all.
Our reading: Fortune Sprites reveal nearby chests, and the Pirate token drops from chests. So Sunday could help you open more chests in a match, which means more chances. That isn't the same as a better drop rate, and Epic hasn't said the token's odds change.
What about Pirate Shop Power Hours?
Dataminer HYPEX posted that "Pirate Shop Power Hours are coming later this season", as VICE reports. That's a leak, not an announcement. Epic hasn't confirmed it, given a date or said how much the odds would go up.
Does everyone have the same chance?
Yes, according to Epic. The official Fortnite Status account said that "every player has an equal opportunity to find Pirate Shop Access", VICE reports. It also warned that buying an account or using fake tools to get it is a scam.
What is Mastery Monday in Fortnite?
Mastery Monday runs every Monday from 9am ET (6am PT, 2pm UK). According to Epic's community post, you get:
- 2x Sprite XP
- 2x Sprite Dust, all day
- More Sprite Chests and Wanted Posters across the island
It's the best day of the week to level up your Sprites.
What we don't know yet
- What time Treasure Hours start and end on Sunday.
- Whether Treasure Hours ever boost the Pirate Shop token.
- Whether HYPEX's Pirate Shop Power Hours are real, and when they'd happen.
