In short

  • There are nine vaults on Crossbones Isle, though one site lists ten. Each one holds three Rare Chests and a Sprite Chest.
  • Vault keys are random drops, mostly from chests. Equip a key and its vault shows on your minimap.
  • Treasure Hunters chests can drop real rewards, including the Solid Gold A$AP Rocky outfit, a G-Wagon and the very rare Pirate token.
  • The Pirate token lets you claim Item Shop cosmetics for free for 14 days, twice. Epic hasn't published the odds.

Vaults are back in Fortnite, and they're one of the most searched things in the game right now. "All vault locations Fortnite" is up more than 1,000% on Google Trends in the past day. Here's where every Treasure Hunters vault is, how to open them, and what you can win from the chests inside.

Where are all the vault locations in Fortnite?

Players have found nine vaults so far. Game Rant and Beebom agree on most of them, and we've noted where they don't. Use the map above to find each named location.

Beebom also lists a vault underneath Plunder Port, which would make ten. Game Rant doesn't include it.

The easy way to find yours: a vault key is tied to one random vault. When you equip the key, that vault is marked on your minimap, so you don't need to memorise them all.

How do you get a vault key in Fortnite?

Open chests. Keys drop at random, mostly from chests. You can also take one from a player you've knocked out. Game Rant reports that levelling up the Sweet Dreams Sprite can give you a key, and that having a Chester Sprite equipped may improve your chances from chests.

Each key works once and disappears after you open its vault.

What's inside a Fortnite vault?

Each vault holds three Rare Chests and one Sprite Chest, so it's one of the best places to find Epic and Legendary weapons and a Sprite. Every chest inside also counts as a chest for treasure rewards, which is why players are farming vaults for the Pirate token.

Some players have found ways to break the chests inside a vault without a key, according to Beebom. Epic hasn't commented, and these tricks often get fixed, so don't count on them.

What are the Fortnite Treasure Hunters chest rewards?

Treasure Hunters chests mostly give normal loot, but any of them can drop a special reward. Beebom lists what's in the pool for each week:

Treasure Hunters chest rewards by week, as reported by Beebom
WeekRewards
Week 1 (now)Solid Gold A$AP Rocky outfit, Solid Gold A$AP Rocky's Gauntlets pickaxe, Plunder in Paradise loading screen, Golden Llama Crew decal, Mercedes-AMG G 63 "G-Wagon", Pirate Shop Access
Week 2 (from 5 November)Solid Gold Lil' Uzi Vert outfit, Lil' Uzi Crew back bling, So Kawaii loading screen, Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, "London" Jam Track, Pirate Shop Access

Chests can also drop gizmos, such as the Sprite Locator, Lucky Locator and Portable Extractor.

What are the chances of getting chest rewards?

Epic hasn't published any odds for Treasure Hunters chest rewards. The cosmetics and vehicles are rare, and the Pirate token is the rarest of all.

What is the Pirate token in Fortnite?

The Pirate token is Pirate Shop Access, a reward that unlocks the Item Shop for free. Players also call it the Fortnite coin or the shop token, because it's a gold coin with an F on a compass.

What does the Pirate token do?

Fortnite's own in-game screen explains it. You get two goes, one in 2026 and one in 2027. Each time, you can claim anything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop for free, for 14 days from when you activate it.

It doesn't cover real-money offers, gifting, or pass levels and rewards. You can only claim one free Sidekick that you don't already own, and the token can't be given to anyone else. Our guide explains how to get the Pirate Shop token and activate it.

What are the odds of getting the Pirate token in Fortnite?

Epic hasn't said. The number going around is about 1 in 700,000 chests, which Beebom and others repeat, but nobody has shown how it was worked out. VICE reports that when one player in a squad finds it, the whole squad gets it, so playing in a full squad gives you more chances. We've looked at all the estimates in how rare the Fortnite Pirate token is.

Be careful of "free Pirate token for everyone" posts. Accounts sharing these aren't linked to Epic. The token only comes from chests in the game.

How do you see how many chests you've opened in Fortnite?

Open the Quests tab and scroll down to Treasure Hunt on the left. Your total number of chests opened is shown there, as Beebom explains.

What we don't know yet

  • The real odds for chest rewards and the Pirate token.
  • Where the Windmill Village vault is exactly, and whether there's a tenth vault at Plunder Port.
  • Whether Epic will change vaults or chests in a later update.
